Celadon Woodworking is owned and operated by me, Jerri Andreasen. My interest in woodworking began at fourteen when my father told me he would give me a very cool old wooden chest on the condition that I refinish it myself. I had no idea what to do, but he told me how to remove the old grungy brown finish (sorry Antiques Roadshow!) and apply a hand-rubbed boiled linseed oil finish. I felt an amazing sense of accomplishment when I finally finished the last coat of oil! My daughter now uses that chest in her bedroom.
My journey to woodworking was a gradual one. After graduating from U.C. Berkeley in 1986, I bounced around doing database programming, tech support, and web design for quite a few years. I saw the work of some of the students at Seattle Central Community College's Wood Construction Center at a woodworking show around 1998 and was amazed at the quality of work they did. In Fall, 2004 I enrolled in their Cabinetry and Fine Furniture program (after being on the wait list for over two years) and had a blast. I learned a great deal from the instructors there. I still have a lot to learn, but they really gave me a terrific base from which to start.
After graduating from the SCCC program, except for a brief stint at a local company where I constructed all types of tables each week, I have been designing and building furniture and other accessories out of my own shop.
Aside from running Celadon Woodworking, I am also co-owner of Sparrow Web Design.
